Time: The Ancient Alchemist

“Madame Butterfly” by Lucy Campbell
“Madame Butterfly”  by Lucy Campbell

This morning, as I washed the dishes, I found myself marveling at the quiet miracles all around me—so often unnoticed, yet so sacred. A bulb, buried deep beneath rocks, knows to send down white roots and unfurl green shoots, yielding delicate, fragrant blossoms. A bird spreads its wings, catching the wind with effortless grace, a true wonder. Rose Quartz, soft pink in hue, forms deep within the earth’s heart, a symbol of love. And Amethyst, dull on the outside, but when split open, reveals its inner royalty, sparkling from within.

What ties these wonders together? What unites their beauty and form? Time. Time is the alchemist, shaping each one through seasons, cycles, and changes. Time allows transformation—one “death” leading into new life again and again, in a rhythm that mirrors our own journey through the years.

As we walk through time ourselves, especially as we age, we carry this same alchemy within us. The wrinkles on our skin, the silver in our hair, the softening of our hearts—they are the marks of time’s holy work. And how blessed we are to pause in this moment, to feel the weight and grace of Time stretching our hearts, just as nature’s wonders evolve with patience and care.

Time, a divine force, moves through us, shaping us as it shapes the earth’s gifts. Let us embrace it, as we would embrace the wisdom of the rose quartz or the beauty within amethyst, trusting that our journey, like theirs, grows ever more precious with age.

Very impressive why is it we don’t stop and notice truth and beauty right in front of us

Beautiful. Thank you! A softening, a return to love, who we are.
